Day 137: Boat-tailed Grackle

The Boat-tailed Grackle is a large blackbird found along the coasts of eastern North America. We see them frequently during our trips to Maryland's eastern shore.

Male Boat-tailed Grackles are loud birds, with a long keel-shaped tail and iridescent black plumage. Females are brownish colored. They are opportunistic omnivores and will eat anything from seeds and insects to crabs and lizards.
