The Ovenbird is a cute little songbird in the warbler family. It breeds in eastern North America and winters farther south in Florida, the Caribbean, and Central America.
Ovenbirds have olive-brown upperparts and white underparts heavily streaked with black. They also have orange feathers on the top of their heads that can form a small crest. We found an Ovenbird several weeks ago during a visit to Maryland's eastern shore. After hearing one sing for a few minutes, we finally tracked it down and got some awesome pictures of it singing its heart out.
