Day 130: Prothonotary Warbler

Today's bird is one of Jared's favorites because of its stunning yellow plumage. The Prothonotary Warbler has an olive colored back with blue-grey wings and tail, and a vibrant yellow underbelly and head.

The Prothonotary Warbler lives in wet forests throughout its range. It breeds primarily in the southeastern United States and winters in mangrove forests of Central and South America. It is the only eastern warbler that nests in natural or artificial cavities, sometimes using old Downy Woodpecker holes.
