Day 123: Black-crowned Night Heron

Apologies for not writing last night to go along with my entry on the Osprey. I was super tired after a long day at work and an evening of birding, so I fudged a little and just posted pictures. I've now updated the entry with a description, as well.

Today's bird is the Black-crowned Night Heron. We went to the D.C. zoo a few weeks ago and saw countless of these birds nesting around the zoo grounds. These are by no means caged "zoo" animals. For some reason, they just like to make their home and roost in the trees around the zoo. I love their bright red/orange eyes.
