Day 41: Dark-eyed Junco

The Dark-eyed Junco is a familiar bird that lives across much of North America. It can be found in flocks in a variety of habitats, often found at feeders, parks, and farms.

Adults have gray heads, necks, and breasts, gray or brown backs and wings, and a white belly, but show great variation in plumage details.


Dark-eyed Juncos forage for food on the ground, mainly eating insects and seeds.
