Day 230: Pygmy Nuthatch

The Pygmy Nuthatch is a tiny bird that lives in long-needled pine forests throughout parts of the western United States and Mexico. We saw several while visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, and they are very noisy and social birds.

Pygmy Nuthatches have a brown-gray cap, blue-gray upperparts, and white underparts. They are similar to Brown-headed Nuthatches (which I blogged about earlier), but their ranges don't overlap.
