Day 155: Scarlet Tanager

Scarlet Tanagers are a colorful addition to the local bird species this time of year. They breed in large forested areas across eastern North America, and during the winter migrate to Central and South America. We often see them singing away at the top of a tall tree.

Adult male Scarlet Tanagers are bright red with black wings and tail; females are yellowish on the underparts and olive on top, with olive-brown wings and tail.
