Day 8: Tundra Swan

We're finally back in Bethesda after a wonderful weekend exploring the eastern shore of Maryland. Best of all, Jared and I got a ton of great pictures that I'll be able to share with you the next few days and weeks!

We saw some beautiful Tundra Swans this weekend. The Tundra Swan is one of two swan species native to the U.S. After breeding on the arctic wetlands, they winter on estuaries along the East and West coasts.

Aren't they beautiful and graceful birds? They are also VERY loud, squawking so much that we could hear them long before we actually saw them.

Fun fact: Tundra swans are long-living birds and form monogamous pairs.
